Three things cannot be hidden long, the sun, the moon, and the truth.

There is a reason why there are endless clichés about perseverance...

"Hang in there"
"When the going gets tough..."
"No pain, No gain"

They were invented to remind us that there is honor in hardwork, which makes success taste even sweeter.

Wednesday, March 17, 2010 - THE WORLD IS A...

[THE WORLD IS A...]
The world is a fine place and worth the fighting for.”
I agree with the second part

THE WORLD IS A...

Singapore is a beautiful garden city. Our streets are lighted up by halogen lamps and our skies are lilted up by scrapers. Our air fresh, with the abundance of greenery in our garden city; supposedly.

Why is it that our air is so hazy and is apparent during the evening? Blame not our neighbors’, for the disturbance started off on our own soil. Ever increasing heat from our impeccable sun, dry spells is just but impending. Haze is just the product of the burned out on the dried out bush regions of our garden city.

But why is the haze more apparent in the evening? During the day time, hot air rises, lifting up the product. And as night approaches, the sun sets. The air cools off and the product descends.
This just reminds me of life, the outward appearance is just like our garden city, beautiful. The outbreaks of fires are like obstacles. We are like the fire fighters, trying to put out and overcome our lives of various obstacles. As night falls, the haze descends the perfect depiction of the ugly side of the world. And equal balanced equation of the beautiful garden filled with ugly haze; life.
As the sun rises up and light up our skies, our very lives begin again. Truth be told, life is not altogether perfectly beautiful. Will we still fight through our daily lives and live the best out of it, or will we just give up?

Ernest Hemingway once wrote, “The world is a fine place and worth the fighting for.” (For Whom the Bell Tolls [1940], Ch 43) I agree with the second part.

The world is not a fine place, its riddle with imperfection; but that does not stop the warrior within me to fight for perfection.
